Overview
Sangoma Technologies is hiring an experienced payroll leader to own the company’s full payroll operation. The position is based in Dallas, TX and requires someone who can manage complex payroll activities across salary and hourly populations while also handling commissions, journal entries, reconciliations, reporting, and compliance in a global environment.
The ideal candidate will bring a hands-on, improvement-oriented mindset and be ready to serve as the company’s payroll subject matter expert. This role is expected to strengthen processes, support multiple teams, and ensure payroll is delivered accurately and on time across countries.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct the complete payroll cycle, covering weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly, and international payroll runs.
- Review and balance payroll before transmission, and verify reporting so that payments and related transactions are processed correctly across multiple countries.
- Supervise, guide, and develop the payroll team.
- Act as the main payroll point of contact for employees, outside auditors, and service partners on both domestic and international payroll topics.
- Maintain compliance with global payroll rules, including tax equalization and withholding obligations in different jurisdictions.
- Oversee timely preparation and submission of payroll compliance filings for global operations.
- Recommend and implement improvements to payroll workflows, including global payroll platforms and automation opportunities.
- Partner with People, Legal, Accounting, and FP&A teams to keep payroll and equity matters aligned.
- Prepare accurate monthly general ledger entries with the accounting team.
- Build recurring and ad hoc payroll and finance reports for different teams and regions.
- Manage PTO administration with HR and local managers.
- Handle additional duties as needed to support department and business goals.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of payroll management experience, including 3 or more years leading global payroll teams, or an equivalent mix of education and progressively responsible experience.
- Strong leadership ability with proven skill in managing people and building effective teams.
- Experience handling multi-state and international payroll for both exempt and non-exempt employees.
- Deep knowledge of tax equalization, global payroll compliance, and international payroll regulations.
- Practical experience using ADP Workforce Now and Deel.
- Working knowledge of SOX requirements and experience dealing with auditors and external vendors.
- Strong understanding of U.S. and international payroll laws.
- Analytical, improvement-focused approach with a track record of streamlining payroll processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred; an associate degree is also acceptable.
- Proficiency with ADP Workforce Now, Microsoft Word, Excel, and 10-key.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with international teams.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer.
