About the Role and Team

The AI Data and Safety group is integral to advancing Seed foundational AI models across various modalities, as well as enhancing AI-native applications built on these models. This team manages the full data lifecycle, from designing evaluation methods and incorporating user feedback and benchmark results into data requests, to building scalable workflows to improve data quality and support rapid model updates.

The group blends technical expertise and operational skills by bringing together cross-functional talent in product management, data engineering, and operations. Members are deeply analytical about model behaviors, work swiftly on complex challenges, and have practical experience as both builders and users of AI models and systems.

Working closely with Seed researchers, industry specialists, and top data suppliers, the team addresses cutting-edge data issues at the forefront of AI development, aiming to enhance both model performance and user experience.

The AI Data & Safety External Partnership Development Team focuses on perpetually sourcing premium data suppliers for foundational AI models and related applications. Aligning with model training data requirements, the team carries out market research and manages the entire process—from supplier discovery and assessment to commercial negotiations and project execution—ensuring timely and high-quality data delivery that supports continuous model improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with AI model training units to grasp business objectives, define expected data types and quality standards, and conduct systematic market and industry research to remain updated on AI data trends and technologies.
• Develop strategies for high-quality data sourcing by identifying, engaging, and onboarding startups and established data suppliers, establishing effective evaluation and screening mechanisms to build a solid data supplier ecosystem.
• Analyze market, supplier, and industry data to extract insights and prepare detailed reports supporting decisions in AI training, purchasing, and strategic planning.
• Identify and track emerging data resources and potential partners, maintain robust market connections, and ensure access to innovative, quality data streams.
• Lead the onboarding process for suppliers, ensuring evaluation, qualification, and capabilities align with project delivery requirements and internal workflows.
• Manage supplier commercial relationships by negotiating contracts, drafting terms, controlling costs, and ensuring compliance, aimed at efficient, compliant, and optimized partnerships.
• Coordinate supplier deliveries by liaising with internal and external stakeholders, clarifying data requirements even in uncertain cases, managing expectations, and ensuring adherence to project timelines and quality standards.
• Maintain and strengthen long-term supplier relationships through regular performance evaluations and service quality assessments; optimize supplier management frameworks and leverage data insights to enhance supplier effectiveness and partnership value.

Candidate Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree or higher in fields such as Marketing, Business Management, Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, or related areas. Candidates with relevant internships or project experience in AI data industry are also welcome.
• Minimum of two years of relevant experience in AI data services, data sourcing, vendor management, or business development.
• Strong strategic thinking and analytical capabilities to independently conduct market research, synthesize findings, and resolve complex issues.
• Proven track record in supplier sourcing and channel development alongside solid business insight to identify and align resources with business requirements.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills to manage complex and ambiguous scenarios involving multiple parties.
• Basic project management skills with the ability to plan, execute, and oversee onboarding and delivery processes, ensuring schedules, quality, and risk controls; adept in data analysis and reporting to generate actionable insights and improve workflows.
• Highly adaptable, detail-focused, and execution-oriented with a strong sense of ownership, resilience in high-pressure environments, and a collaborative approach.
• Preferred: Familiarity with AI training data marketplaces, data types, and supplier ecosystems; experience with major AI data companies is advantageous.
