Role overview
This role sits within a small regional team that supports Canadian business in Toronto. The manager leads the day-to-day BAU activity, and this analyst will work alongside two other analysts to capture and maintain standard settlement instructions (SSIs) for capital market clients across internal payment platforms. Because cash SSIs require maker/checker validation, close coordination, clear communication, and teamwork are essential.
Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Industry: Banking
Core responsibilities
- Keep SSI records accurate and up to date across all relevant systems so capital market settlements can run smoothly.
- Process SSI amendments promptly and make sure every system change is completed correctly.
- Handle SSI creation, changes, and removals based on instructions from approved business channels, including DTCC Alerts through SSIHub, SWIFT messages through Prowide, the SSI Search application, and verified BCS Settlement Operations teams.
- Support segregation of duties by taking part in maker/checker controls for manual SSI inputs in RIMMS.
- Review exception queues in SSIHub, investigate failed straight-through processing items, and correct data issues where needed.
- Assist with SSI verification in SSI Search for assigned locations and help maintain operational documentation related to SSIs.
Working style and additional expectations
The team operates in a fast-moving environment with frequent interruptions and shifting priorities. Strong accuracy, efficiency, and deadline management are important. The role also calls for initiative, problem-solving beyond immediate tasks, cross-team information sharing, and a customer-focused approach to internal stakeholders.
Skills and experience needed
Candidates should bring very strong verbal and written communication skills, solid PC proficiency with particular strength in Microsoft Office, and the ability to remain precise under pressure. Experience or familiarity with capital markets operations and related processes would be an advantage.
