Overview
The Mixologist role is essential to delivering an exceptional beverage experience at the restaurant. This position involves crafting a diverse array of drinks, engaging warmly with guests, maintaining a neat bar environment, and contributing to catering events on and off site. Responsibilities encompass cocktail preparation, inventory management, sales, and compliance with service standards.
Primary Duties
- Prepare and serve a wide selection of drinks including cocktails, mocktails, wines, beers, spirits, juices, and soft drinks, following precise recipes and presentation standards.
- Create innovative cocktails and non-alcoholic signature drinks that complement the restaurant's menu themes and seasonal changes.
- Deliver attentive customer service at the bar by taking orders efficiently, providing personalized drink recommendations, and promoting specials and premium beverages.
- Set up the bar each shift, ensuring supplies like ice, garnishes, glassware, and tools are ready, and continuously maintain cleanliness and orderliness during service.
- Track bar inventory accurately, arrange for replenishments when necessary, and handle delivery processes including stock counting and correct storage.
- Utilize the point-of-sale system effectively for entering orders, processing payments, voiding errors, and recording any complimentary drinks or wastage events in line with company policies.
- Uphold responsible alcohol service by verifying IDs, monitoring guest behavior, refusing service to intoxicated customers, and managing all open bottles and perishable mixers safely.
- Support banquet and off-site functions by preparing portable bars and delivering efficient beverage service in temporary, fast-paced settings.
Qualifications and Skills
- Possession of a formal bartending or mixology certification from an accredited institution is highly preferred.
- A minimum of two years' experience working as a mixologist or bartender in a busy bar or restaurant setting.
- Extensive knowledge of classic and contemporary cocktail techniques, various spirits, wine, beer varieties, garnish preparation, and visual presentation skills.
- Proven ability to design commercially viable signature drinks with balanced flavors and attractive appearance.
- Experience managing inventory, portion control, and proficient operation of point-of-sale systems.
- Excellent interpersonal and sales skills aimed at engaging guests and maximizing upselling opportunities.
- Understanding of food safety, hygiene practices, and legal requirements concerning responsible alcohol service.
- Attributes such as reliability, honesty, ability to remain calm under pressure, close attention to detail, and a neat professional demeanor.
- Physical endurance to stand for extended periods, lift heavy bar equipment and beverage crates, and work during late shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required.
- Willingness to undergo practical evaluations of mixology skills, speed, and bar setup proficiency during the interview process.
