About South Staffs Water
South Staffordshire Water serves nearly 1.3 million people across regions known as Cambridge Water and South Staffs Water. It is a privately-owned water-only company operating within a wide geographic area stretching from Ashbourne in the north to Halesowen in the south, and from Burton-on-Trent in the east to Kinver in the west.
Role Summary
This role offers an opportunity to work independently in the field, reading water meters to help ensure customers receive accurate billing. The position involves regular customer interaction and outdoor work in the Staffordshire area. The company supports its employees with a vehicle and comprehensive benefits.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect water meter readings accurately from customer properties throughout the region.
- Complete all assigned meter reading schedules monthly to meet Guaranteed Standards Scheme (GSS) compliance.
- Correctly enter meter data into company systems.
- Engage courteously with customers, responding to inquiries and providing excellent service.
- Report irregular consumption, leaks, or faulty meters promptly.
- Identify and assist vulnerable customers when needed.
- Maintain a professional representation of South Staffs Water and Cambridge Water.
- Manage daily workloads efficiently while ensuring accuracy and customer satisfaction.
Candidate Requirements
- Valid full UK driving licence.
- Strong communication skills and customer engagement ability.
- Capable of working autonomously as well as collaboratively within a field team.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in recording information.
- Flexible attitude suited to outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
- Prior experience in field work is an advantage but not mandatory.

Additional Information
Location: Waterbeach, Cambridge (field-based, covering Staffordshire area)
Contract: Full-time, permanent, 37.5 hours per week
Salary: £25,550 per annum
