Role Overview
This opportunity is for a Mechanical Project Engineer in Qatar. The position focuses on planning, prioritizing, executing, monitoring, and controlling projects in a structured and efficient way. When assigned as a project coordinator, the role involves working closely with team members, multiple trades, and stakeholders to keep projects running smoothly. The position also contributes as a discipline specialist on projects by handling discipline-specific scope and deliverables.
The role requires regular contribution to project reports, KPI updates, and CAPEX-related inputs, while maintaining tight cost control across assigned work.
Key Responsibilities
Manage assigned project activities from planning through execution and control, whether acting as a coordinator or as a contributing discipline member, ensuring delivery against quality, timeline, scope, cost, design basis, specifications, risk, and health, safety, energy, and environmental requirements.
Maintain effective communication with the project requisitioner, internal and external stakeholders, team members, and production and maintenance representatives to support smooth project delivery.
Prepare and share routine project status updates covering cost, schedule, cost phasing, forecasting, accruals, KPI tracking, and scorecard variations, and take part in regular review meetings.
Apply relevant engineering codes, standards, design bases, specifications, procedures, and best practices to ensure project work is technically sound and compliant.
Work with the Engineering Section to review engineering deliverables in a disciplined and thorough manner, and support site execution activities during project implementation.
Support procurement and contract activities by selecting suitable contract execution strategies, identifying capable suppliers, and driving cost-effective, high-quality purchasing decisions.
Prepare tender documents for equipment and service packages, perform technical evaluations, secure required approvals, and assist with commercial bid assessment.
Ensure that governance requirements, tender procedures, contract award processes, and post-award obligations are followed through until successful contract completion.
Requirements
A bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline from a recognized university is required.
The ideal candidate should bring at least 10 years of direct, relevant experience in large EPCC projects within the oil and gas, petrochemical, or fertilizer sectors.
Experience in ammonia and urea fertilizer plants or projects is considered a strong advantage.
Applicants should have strong interpersonal and organizational abilities, along with solid computer literacy and good command of Microsoft Office.

This is a full-time, onsite role based in Qatar. The vacancy is for one position.
