About Stratom, Inc.
Stratom, Inc. is an engineering firm dedicated to creating autonomous, unmanned off-highway vehicles and robotic systems designed for challenging environments. We emphasize performance, dependability, and disciplined engineering, merging cutting-edge autonomy with rugged industrial hardware tailored for austere conditions.
Our projects cover the entire system lifecycle, from initial concept and prototyping to field deployment. Currently, with multiple prototypes constructed, we are preparing to scale these platforms for production in the coming years. We seek experienced engineers ready to tackle complex challenges and contribute significantly to bringing various platforms into manufacturing.
Responsibilities
- Provide detailed mechanical designs, CAD models, and engineering documentation supporting aerospace and defense products.
- Collaborate closely with mechanical engineers, manufacturing teams, suppliers, and production staff to ensure designs are accurate and manufacturable.
- Develop high-quality engineering drawings and assembly documentation.
- Assist in prototype construction and support manufacturing throughout design iterations and improvements.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Education: Associate degree, technical degree, or equivalent experience in Mechanical Design, Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in mechanical design, drafting, or product development, ideally supporting aerospace, defense, automotive, robotics, or industrial mechanical systems.
- Proficient with Solidworks 3D CAD software for creating part and assembly models, manufacturing drawings, assembly documentation, and engineering change documentation.
- Solid understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles and tolerance application.
- Able to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and other technical documentation accurately.
- Experience designing machined parts, weldments, sheet metal, brackets, fixtures, structural components, and hardware integration.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes including machining, fabrication, finishing, and assembly.
- Collaborates effectively with engineers and manufacturing personnel to resolve design challenges.
- Supports prototype builds, production assembly, and continuous design enhancement.
Preferred Skills and Attributes
- Prior experience in aerospace, defense, or regulated manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with configuration management and engineering change control procedures.
- Knowledge of ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards.
- Experience designing weight-optimized structures, enclosures, mechanisms, and electromechanical assemblies.
- Supporting supplier or manufacturing design reviews.
- Understanding of coatings and corrosion protection specifications.
- Hands-on exposure to fabrication, assembly, testing, or inspection processes.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to design accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and communicate effectively within cross-functional teams.
- Practical problem solver focusing on manufacturable solutions and ownership of assigned projects.
- Positive, collaborative mindset open to learning and growth.
Additional Details
Because this role may involve access to controlled U.S. export information, including ITAR/EAR regulated materials, candidates must meet related eligibility criteria. U.S. citizenship or appropriate authorization might be required based on program needs. While a Department of Defense Security Clearance is not mandatory at hire, maintaining eligibility to obtain one is necessary during employment.
