About the Role
Silver Fern Farms in Te Aroha seeks a driven and skilled Maintenance Electrician to become part of our dedicated engineering team. The role involves hands-on tasks related to electrical maintenance, repairs, and reliability improvements on a dynamic industrial food processing site.
The maintenance team typically works 45 hours weekly on a two-week rotating roster. Shifts run Monday to Friday, with day shifts from 5am to 4pm and night shifts from 2:30pm to 2am. You'll participate in equipment installation projects and diverse electrical applications across the facility. This position offers the chance to apply your electrical expertise at one of New Zealand's foremost food exporters.
Candidate Profile
Experience in FMCG or similar production environments is beneficial but not mandatory. Success depends on teamwork, adept fault identification, analytical problem-solving, and delivering exceptional plant support. The role requires working independently within a supportive maintenance team, strong interpersonal skills, and a proactive approach to work. We encourage innovative thinking to resolve root causes effectively.
Requirements and Skills
- Relevant trade certification with full New Zealand EWRB Electrical registration.
- Solid understanding of electrical principles, repair, and maintenance on large industrial processing sites or a keen willingness to learn.
- Familiarity with PLCs and variable speed drives (VSDs) from previous positions.
- Ability to analyze issues quickly, develop practical solutions, and communicate effectively with colleagues.
- Self-motivation to work autonomously and collaboratively within an engineering team.
- Organizational skills to manage workload prioritization and demonstrate leadership by example.
- A desire for continual learning, potentially expanding skills into leadership, refrigeration, or project design.
