Overview

The Linen Sorter plays a vital role in handling laundry operations, overseeing the receipt, categorization, and preparation of linens and garments for washing. This position demands precise sorting based on textile type, color, and specific washing demands while upholding quality, efficiency, and safety guidelines.

Key Duties

• Accept soiled textiles from guests and internal collection points.
• Categorize uniforms, linens, and garments by color, fabric composition, and washing instructions.
• Inspect items for stains, defects, or missing components, and promptly notify supervisors of any concerns.
• Mark and isolate heavily soiled or damaged laundry for specialized treatment.
• Accurately count, tag, and track customer items to ensure inventory integrity.
• Assign and place sorted laundry into corresponding carts or bins for washing.
• Adhere strictly to handling procedures for delicate or guest-specific fabrics.
• Maintain cleanliness and order within the sorting workspace.
• Provide support with loading and unloading laundry carts as needed.
• Comply with health, safety, and sanitation protocols at all times.
• Achieve set daily goals for productivity and quality assurance.
• Extend assistance to other facets of laundry operations as required.
• Consistently report to work punctually, maintain proper uniform and name tag as per grooming standards.
• Uphold personal grooming and hygiene standards.
• Cultivate positive interpersonal relationships with colleagues and other departments.
• Participate actively in staff meetings, trainings, and all department or hotel-organized events.
• Support departmental training initiatives and adapt to operational changes within the Housekeeping department.
• Maintain a positive, professional demeanor while exercising self-discipline.
• Deliver courteous and professional service throughout work hours.

Qualifications and Skills

• Preferred: Previous experience in laundry operations.
• Basic proficiency with computers.
• Capable of understanding and communicating in basic English, both written and spoken.
