Lead Engineer - Qatar Executive | Qatar Airways Group

Overview

This position holds full responsibility for the airworthiness and serviceability of Qatar Executive aircraft, ensuring compliance with Qatar Civil Aviation Authority regulations and Qatar Airways standards to guarantee flight safety. The role demands overseeing all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on assigned aircraft efficiently, safely, and cost-effectively using available resources.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, and allocate maintenance team resources effectively to maintain optimum shift coverage, including managing absences due to leave, training, or sickness.
• Use personal license/approval to oversee and execute scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and defect rectifications, issuing appropriate Certificates of Release to Service according to TPM, QE, CPM, and other regulatory standards.
• Ensure timely and efficient defect troubleshooting by reviewing work and resource requirements.
• Manage the aircraft technical team to ensure high standards of performance.
• Be accountable for the overall performance of the supervised group.
• Inform the Maintenance Manager about potential issues impacting aircraft and cabin system serviceability.
• Authorize the final release of maintenance works, ensuring compliance with QE standards including aircraft availability, system reliability, and limits on deferred defects.
• Evaluate and enhance work processes, equipment, and standards to improve operational effectiveness.
• Develop technical solutions within operational scope.
• Support other QE departments by aiding in defining, developing, and preparing maintenance work packages.
• Ensure documentation of maintenance activities aligns with company policies and procedures.
• Collaborate with OEMs, vendors, and suppliers to address defects or operational challenges.
• Facilitate training and development of staff to ensure proper succession planning and risk mitigation.
• Execute other department-related duties as directed by department leadership.

About You

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent plus six years of relevant professional experience.
• Licensed engineer authorized on at least one Qatar Executive aircraft type.
• Diploma recognized in aircraft trade.
• Comprehensive understanding of aircraft maintenance principles related to the assigned role.
• Strong knowledge of applicable air legislation.
• Holder of an ICAO mechanical or avionics license, preferably EASA.
• Valid aircraft type rating, preferably on aircraft operated or planned by Qatar Executive.
• Previous supervisory experience overseeing line and base maintenance operations.
