About the Role
This position involves comprehensive technical leadership for gas path components within the automotive powertrain sector, focusing on intake systems (including ducts and resonators), exhaust components (manifolds, pipes, mufflers, after-treatment interfaces), as well as turbocharger and EGR system connections. The Lead Engineer will direct all phases from concept through standard production, emphasizing compliance with performance, emissions, durability, cost, and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end engineering and delivery of gas path commodities from project kickoff to start of production (SOP).
- Own technical design and delivery aspects for multiple gas path subsystems including intake and exhaust architectures.
- Develop and manage system and component specifications, requirements, and interfaces.
- Drive architecture design, packaging, and vehicle integration efforts.
- Ensure products meet stringent emissions, thermal, noise/vibration/harshness (NVH), durability, and regulatory standards.
- Oversee design review processes, engineering decisions, and change management.
- Plan and execute design verification, validation, and reliability tests (DVP&R).
- Lead failure mode effect analysis (DFMEA), risk assessments, and implement corrective measures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including NVH, thermal, emissions, calibration, manufacturing, and vehicle integration specialists.
- Manage supplier development activities, technical reviews, scheduling, and troubleshooting.
- Support industrialization, assess manufacturing feasibility, and prepare for product launches.
- Serve as the primary technical contact for automotive OEM customers on gas path system issues.
Qualification and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering, or a closely related engineering field.
- 6 to 8 years of proven experience managing complete engineering projects from kickoff to production start.
- Demonstrated expertise as a System, Commodity, or Lead Engineer within automotive gas path systems.
Technical Knowledge
- Intake and exhaust system architecture design and optimization.
- Understanding of airflow dynamics, pressure losses, and thermal system behaviors.
- Knowledge of exhaust after-treatment system integration and packaging requirements.
- Strong grasp of emissions standards and global automotive regulatory requirements.
- Expertise in thermal management, including heat shielding techniques.
- Considerations for NVH performance and component durability.
- Vehicle packaging and underbody system integration experience.
- Familiarity or awareness of functional safety principles and validation frameworks.
- Understanding of manufacturing and assembly constraints in automotive production.

A walk-in interview event was scheduled on 1st August from 9 AM to 1 PM at Tata Technologies, Salarpuria Supreme, Bangalore, with a selection process consisting of profile screening, technical interview, tool test, and HR discussion.
