About WealthCounsel

WealthCounsel unites top drafting software, legal instruments, educators, support staff, and a collegial community dedicated to aiding member attorneys and their clients in achieving growth and success. Recently honored with the 2025 Best Place to Work in the Cloud award, the company emphasizes innovation and excellence in cloud computing.

We value a collaborative, positive workplace supported by comprehensive benefits and a welcoming culture. As our team grows, we seek a proactive Junior Product Designer to join our ranks.

Role Overview

The Junior Product Designer plays a key role within the product design team, crafting intuitive and well-planned user experiences across our software offerings. Collaborating closely with Product Managers and Engineers in a Discovery Trio, this role spans the complete design lifecycle—from initial research and defining problems to delivering design specifications and assisting during implementation.

The position prioritizes developing a product designer's mindset over producing visual designs—understanding user challenges, framing problems effectively, and making product functionality user-friendly and accessible.

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply guided, structured techniques to clarify the user problem beyond just proposing solutions.
  • Take part in discovery meetings alongside PMs and Engineers, bringing a user-focused approach.
  • Develop wireframes, prototypes, and design documents that clearly express intent and facilitate decision-making.
  • Learn to differentiate surface user requests from deeper user needs.
  • Create interaction flows, interfaces, and components consistent with our design system.
  • Design comprehensive states including ideal user flows, error handling, empty states, and loading conditions.
  • Ensure designs adapt fluidly to various screen sizes and device types.
  • Consistently apply and help refine design system patterns.
  • Engage in user research activities such as usability tests and interviews under senior designers' guidance.
  • Observe support calls and training sessions to gain firsthand insight into user interactions.
  • Analyze support tickets and feature requests to detect usage patterns.
  • Gain a deep understanding of user requirements through direct observation.
  • Continuously learn product features, workflows, and integration points by hands-on usage and reviewing release notes.
  • Collaborate with engineering to understand technical limitations and possibilities.
  • Participate actively in design reviews, sprint planning, and other cross-team processes.
  • Adapt based on feedback and iterate designs swiftly.
  • Work with senior designers and management to evolve the design system and its components.
  • Effectively communicate design rationale to PMs and engineering teams.

Required Qualifications

  • Between zero and three years of experience in product, UX, or related design fields.
  • A portfolio that highlights a user-centered approach, detailed interaction design, and problem-solving skills in digital products.
  • Proficiency with Figma or comparable contemporary prototyping and design tools.
  • Basic understanding of UX research methods and eagerness to contribute to research efforts.
  • Keen attention to detail with a strong commitment to quality design.
  • Curiosity about product workings including technical, business, and user perspectives.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in agile or scrum development environments.
  • Familiarity with design systems and component-oriented design methodologies.
  • Understanding of accessibility standards such as WCAG.
  • Prior collaboration experience with product management teams.
  • Basic knowledge of HTML and CSS aiding effective communication with front-end developers.

Work Environment and Benefits

This is a fully remote, full-time position with occasional travel necessary for meetings, training, or trade shows.

Our comprehensive compensation package includes base salary plus performance incentives, medical/dental/vision insurance, and 401(k) with matching contributions. Additional benefits cover generous paid time off including PTO, holidays, volunteer time, blood donor leave, short-term disability, and paid parental leave.

We also offer matching charitable donations, reimbursements for home internet and gym memberships, and multiple opportunities for social connection among remote coworkers.
