Role Overview

We are seeking a driven and commercially aware Junior Buyer for our Generics Purchasing team to cover maternity leave on a 12-month fixed term contract. This role is ideal for those wishing to enhance their buying expertise within the pharmaceutical industry, gaining hands-on experience in supplier management, commercial negotiations, and inventory control amid a dynamic setting.

Handling a range of generic pharmaceutical suppliers, you'll ensure consistent product availability while contributing to competitive pricing and strong commercial outcomes. You will foster positive supplier partnerships, oversee stock levels, issue purchase orders, and collaborate with internal teams to flag slow-moving stock and optimize product performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct daily supplier meetings to negotiate prices and place orders.
• Ensure robust stock availability within your supplier portfolio.
• Utilize Power BI analytics to foresee stock shortages and act promptly with purchase orders.
• Manage stock replenishments and facilitate stock transfers between depots.
• Deliver administrative support to the Buying team on a daily basis.
• Coordinate with international teams to guarantee timely delivery of outstanding orders, avoiding stockouts and maintaining buffer stock.
• Address out-of-stock scenarios by liaising with suppliers and internal teams to resolve manufacturing delays.
• Troubleshoot delivery and product quality issues in collaboration with Goods Inwards and suppliers.
• Validate supplier invoices ensuring pricing agreements are accurately reflected.
• Establish new product lines and update product listings accordingly.
• Track supplier expenditure against rebate schemes to support commercial performance.
• Partner with Sales to identify stagnant stock and apply pricing adjustments to boost sales and minimize excess inventory.

Candidate Profile

• Degree qualification or prior experience in purchasing, supply chain, or buying roles.
• Meticulous attention to detail with strong accuracy.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Outlook, and Word.
• Excellent organizational capability managing multiple priorities effectively.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to establish rapport at all levels.
• Professional telephone etiquette and confidence engaging with stakeholders.
• Collaborative mindset and team player focused on achieving common goals.
