Job description
Role Overview
The Junior Apparel Designer will assist the Apparel Design Director in realizing Printfresh's vibrant, print-centric collections. This hands-on position involves translating seasonal concepts into detailed, production-ready garments through creation of CADs, colorway development, embroidery layouts, sample evaluations, and managing development processes.
Responsibilities
- Design and revise apparel CADs, technical flats, and construction sketches.
- Create colorways, miniature print samples, artwork mockups, and position prints appropriately.
- Support embroidery layout design including placement, scaling, and color indications.
- Take part in prototype and sample reviews, providing clear feedback from a design perspective.
- Update technical designs and artwork based on sample evaluations.
- Maintain tracking of revisions, approvals, samples, and outstanding development tasks.
- Collaborate to generate and keep updated tech packs alongside Product Development and Technical Design teams.
- Ensure seasonal files, working boards, line plans, and presentation materials remain accurate and up-to-date.
- Communicate and coordinate with multiple departments including Print and CAD, Product Development, Production, and Merchandising to maintain organization and meet development timelines.
Requirements
- Possess 1 to 3 years’ experience in apparel or fashion design; exceptional internships or relevant freelance work will also be considered.
- Preferably hold a degree in Fashion Design or a related discipline.
- Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.
- Experience in creating apparel CADs, technical flats, and art mockups.
- Strong aesthetic sense for color, print, scale, proportion, and fine detail.
- Basic knowledge of garment construction and apparel development workflows.
- Must be highly organized, proactive, able to juggle multiple priorities effectively, and enjoy collaborating with others.
- Interest in expressive fashion, particularly print-focused and size-inclusive design.
- Submission of a portfolio demonstrating relevant apparel design work is mandatory.
