Job description
Context and Environment
This project represents an unprecedented industrial drilling scale within a remote and environmentally sensitive region for the Group. The Tilenga oilfields partially lie within a protected National Park, the Nile wetlands, and densely inhabited rural areas in Uganda. Activities carry risks of major incidents due to environmental sensitivity and significant NGO presence. The project requires delivering one well every four days using three rigs simultaneously, emphasizing standardized equipment and procedures, strict adherence to drilling instructions, and safe, efficient logistics management. The focus is on minimizing costs by innovating design and challenging existing company benchmarks.
The production fluids present unusual challenges: high oil viscosity at Northern Wellpads and waxy crude at Southern wellpads, requiring specialized production chemistry, separation, and production water treatment strategies unique to this project.
The environment is multicultural with contractors worldwide, requiring compliance with Ugandan laws, administrative requirements, technical authorizations, and international standards for onshore plant operations.
