Role Overview

The Information Technology Business Analyst position is a full-time role based in Maynooth, County Kildare, Ireland, with flexible work options including on-site, remote, or hybrid arrangements. This role acts as the essential connection between business stakeholders and IT personnel, interpreting business goals and analyzing current processes to translate needs into clear technical requirements.

As part of an energetic IT Business Solutions & Services team, the analyst will engage with clients and collaborate with project managers, developers, architects, testers, infrastructure and database teams, and security specialists to provide technology solutions aligned with business objectives. Responsibilities include gathering and documenting detailed business and functional requirements, preparing user stories, process flow maps, and functional specifications, as well as supporting solution design, implementation, testing, user training, and managing organizational change.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as a trusted advisor offering knowledgeable analysis and guidance on business applications, software, system architectures, cloud technologies, infrastructure, and cybersecurity.
• Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to gather, analyze, document, and validate business, functional, and technical requirements.
• Perform feasibility assessments, cost-benefit evaluations, and impact analysis for new technology initiatives.
• Advocate for and assist in integrating emerging technologies to boost organizational performance and efficiency.
• Review and optimize existing business workflows, data flows, IT systems, and security frameworks.
• Create documentation including business requirements, functional specs, user stories, and process diagrams to underpin project execution.
• Support procurement, deployment, integration, testing, and ongoing enhancement of business applications and IT infrastructure.
• Organize and manage system testing, user acceptance testing, and validation processes to assure quality and alignment with requirements.
• Monitor solution effectiveness, assess business outcomes, and suggest improvements to maximize client value.
• Keep informed about industry standards, technological advancements, regulatory compliance, and best practices to promote continual innovation and high service quality.

Skills & Experience

• Demonstrated experience in business analysis including requirement gathering, stakeholder management, and detailed documentation of various requirements.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving aptitude capable of data interpretation, trend identification, and actionable business insights.
• Proficient in analyzing and enhancing business processes employing suitable methodologies and tools.
• Solid understanding of IT fundamentals including business software, infrastructure, cloud services, cybersecurity, and systems architecture.
• Experience with project methodologies like Agile and Waterfall, involving analysis, solution design, testing, and implementation phases.
• Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with clients and cross-functional technical teams.
• Robust organizational capabilities with keen attention to detail and ability to juggle multiple priorities in client-centric environments.
• Capacity to work autonomously as well as contribute meaningfully to a collaborative, fast-paced team setting.
• Previous IT Business Analyst or similar consulting experience is highly preferred.
• Familiarity or eagerness to deepen expertise in relevant technologies, business domains, and service areas.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Alternatively, a comparable combination of professional experience and technical knowledge may suffice.
• Knowledge of established business analysis frameworks, methodologies, and industry norms.
• Professional certifications such as IIBA ECBA/CCBA/CBAP, PMI-PBA, Agile, Scrum, ITIL, Microsoft, AWS, or Azure are beneficial but not mandatory.
