HSES Specialist

Job Overview

The HSES Specialist leverages deep conceptual understanding of Health, Safety, Environment, and Security (HSES) principles and is capable of operating independently. This role demands balancing active field engagement with business administrative duties in a fast-paced setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the creation and rollout of HSES strategies, procedures, and guidelines.
• Offer HSES advice and support to frontline supervisors and field teams.
• Provide coaching and mentorship to junior HSES personnel.
• Assist in the prequalification process for subcontractors and vendors from an HSES perspective.
• Monitor subcontractors and vendors to ensure adherence to safety practices.
• Take part in risk assessments and maintain updated risk registers.
• Execute HSES activities as per the activity plan.
• Develop Toolbox Talk (TBT) schedules and relevant materials.
• Support supervisory staff during TBT presentations.
• Help in planning and implementing Permit to Work (PTW) procedures, conduct inspections, and verify adherence to PTW protocols.
• Support preparation and execution of HSES audits and inspections, and track the progress on findings.
• Assist in designing and deploying new HSES initiatives.
• Contribute to emergency response drills, including preparing reports and checking equipment.
• Engage in incident investigations and compile reports where necessary.

Qualifications and Experience

• Degree, diploma, or equivalent qualification in an HSES-related field.
• Minimum of five years’ HSES experience within the Oil and Gas sector.
• Knowledge of local and international HSES laws, regulations, and codes.
• Familiarity with company-, facility-, and project-specific HSES requirements and deliverables.
• Ongoing maintenance of core competencies related to the HSES role.
• Strong communication and presentation abilities in both written and spoken formats.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for effective teamwork and leadership.
• Proven skills in conflict resolution and leadership.
