Role Overview
An established nonprofit in Charlotte, North Carolina is hiring an HR Specialist for a contract assignment with the possibility of becoming permanent. The position sits within a growing HR team and combines recruiting support, onboarding coordination, records management, and compliance-related administration in a busy onsite setting. The right candidate will exercise good judgment, stay highly organized, and handle sensitive employee information with care while working closely with HR leadership.
Recruiting and Hiring Support
- Source potential candidates through online channels and help move applicants through early hiring stages.
- Review applications at the initial stage, arrange interviews, and contribute to a smooth candidate experience.
Onboarding and HR Administration
- Manage onboarding activities for new hires so that forms and backup documents are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Keep personnel files and HR documentation well organized while protecting private employee data.
- Support training coordination and administrative tasks for orientation and onboarding sessions.
Compliance and Systems Support
- Assist with compliance work by collecting records, monitoring requirements, and helping prepare for audits, including healthcare-related compliance needs.
- Work with HR tools and digital signature/document systems such as Paychex and Adobe Sign to run onboarding and recordkeeping processes.
- Partner with the HR Manager on routine operations, reporting, research, and special projects for a workforce of about 168 employees.

This role is based onsite in Charlotte, NC and is offered as a temporary contract position through Robert Half, with the potential to convert to a permanent opportunity. Requirements
- Previous experience as an HR Specialist, HR Generalist, or in a similar human resources position.
- Hands-on recruiting experience, including sourcing candidates, screening applicants, and coordinating interviews.
- Working knowledge of HRIS platforms; experience with Paychex is a strong advantage.
- Excellent organization and careful attention to detail when managing employee records and documentation.
- Ability to handle confidential information professionally and discreetly.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, plus solid research and documentation abilities.
- Comfort working across multiple priorities in a fast-moving, deadline-oriented environment.
- Prior experience in healthcare, HIPAA-regulated, or otherwise compliance-sensitive settings is preferred.
