Job description
Overview
We welcome your interest in joining WVU Medicine St. Joseph's Hospital as a Housekeeper. This full-time, on-site role involves performing a range of environmental service tasks to ensure assigned areas are kept clean and orderly.
Key Duties
- Inspect assigned locations to confirm cleanliness and maintenance, reporting any issues promptly to supervisors.
- Carry out cleaning procedures for patient rooms, exam rooms, public spaces, restrooms, procedure and operating rooms, offices, and equipment.
- Empty all trash receptacles within designated areas.
- Restock supplies such as paper towels, toilet paper, and soap to maintain adequate availability.
- Make beds in patient discharge and on-call rooms following prescribed protocols.
- Maintain and clean assigned equipment, alerting supervisors to any problems or improvement suggestions.
- Assist by moving furniture, equipment, boxes, washing walls, and spot-cleaning carpets when required.
- Strictly adhere to safety and sanitation standards at all times.
Specialty Accreditation Training
Complete annual mandated education related to specialty accreditation, including participating in computer-based learning, training sessions, in-services, and competency validations as per hospital standards.
Physical Demands
- Ability to perform physical cleaning tasks such as mopping, bending, reaching, and operating cleaning machinery like vacuum cleaners, autoscrubbers, and buffers.
- Meet the Department of Labor's Heavy Duty Standard for physical work.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment for prolonged periods.
Work Environment
- Regular exposure to communicable diseases, body fluids, and various cleaning chemicals during daily duties.
Skills and Abilities
- Flexible scheduling availability aligning with hospital operational needs.
- Ability to interact courteously and harmoniously with guests and staff.
- Understanding of assigned work areas, supplies, and equipment requirements.
- Capability to comprehend and follow written assignments accurately.
