About the Role
An exciting opportunity to join a fast-growing, private equity-backed fintech company as a Group Financial Controller. This senior finance position reports directly to the CFO and involves active engagement with the Leadership Team and Board. The post-holder will be instrumental in reinforcing financial controls, enhancing reporting standards, boosting automation and scalability, and aiding the business during its growth phase.
Primary Responsibilities
- Maintain and improve the company's financial control frameworks ensuring strong governance, compliance, and accountability.
- Lead and coordinate external audits while managing relationships with auditors, tax consultants, and other third-party partners.
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the balance sheet, effective cash flow management, and maintain discipline over working capital.
- Oversee the month-end closing process to provide punctual, precise, and insightful management reports.
- Prepare detailed management accounts including variance analyses, performance evaluations, and future-focused insights.
- Promote improvements in reporting efficiency and scalability via automation, system upgrades, and process optimisation.
- Compile reporting packages for the Leadership Team and Board, offering clear views on financial and operational results.
- Contribute to strategic decisions through scenario analysis, sensitivity assessments, and evaluating investments.
- Collaborate with senior business leaders to challenge assumptions and ensure accountability for business performance.
- Participate in budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning activities.
- Lead and nurture a high-performing finance team.
- Continuously review and upgrade finance systems, controls, and reporting processes to support ongoing growth and scaling.
Candidate Profile
- Qualified accountant with ACA, ACCA or CIMA certification.
- Demonstrable prior experience as a Financial Controller or equivalent senior finance leadership role.
- Expertise in financial control, statutory reporting, and governance practices.
- Proven track record of enhancing financial processes, controls, and reporting in evolving business environments.
- Experience with automation and finance system transformation initiatives.
- Strong commercial insight with the capability to translate financial data into actionable business insights and influence stakeholders.
- Experienced in Board reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and business planning functions.
- Previous involvement in developing and mentoring finance teams.
- Familiarity with investor reporting, due diligence, private equity contexts, or exit-related preparations is highly advantageous.
- Background in fintech, payments, financial services, or other regulated sectors is preferred.
