Position Overview
Joining Walmart Canada as a General Merchandise Associate presents an excellent chance to develop key skills within a fast-moving retail setting. This position involves delivering stellar customer service aligned with Walmart’s core values, keeping the sales floor orderly and ready for customers, and assisting with stocking and various sales-related duties in the general merchandise section. Core Responsibilities
- Offer courteous and professional assistance by welcoming customers, aiding product selection, promoting merchandise and services, locating items, supporting purchase decisions, and addressing or escalating customer issues.
- Maintain coverage over assigned sales floor areas and provide help at the Front End during peak times, coordinating with team members to ensure consistent floor presence and customer support.
- Organize and clean assigned zones to sustain a neat sales environment, relocate featured products to proper modular spots, and handle merchandise recovered from Customer Service and other departments.
- Restock products, conduct downstocking as needed, apply product protection measures, and establish shelving setups including flex modulars and new shelf caps.
- Uphold workplace safety and cleanliness by adhering to company policies, completing safety check logs, and securing displays and fixtures.
- Exhibit schedule flexibility by working various shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays, adapting as needed to business demands to help the store operate efficiently.
Challenges in This Role
- Manage a significant volume of tasks in a high-speed environment, especially during overnight shifts, by effectively planning to maintain energy and focus.
- Address physically demanding duties such as prolonged standing, bending, and lifting items up to 20 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
- Perform repetitive actions like stocking, zoning, and arranging products carefully and consistently to meet store standards.

Compensation
The starting hourly wage for this role is $17.75.
