Role Overview
County Line Swine is hiring one permanent, full-time general farm worker for its rural swine operation in Adelaide Metcalfe, Ontario. This is an in-person role at the farm located at 1092 Melwood St., Alvinston. The workplace operates in English.
Work Schedule
Weekend availability is essential, including Sundays. Every third weekend is a shorter shift.
Key Duties
- Feed and care for farrowing sows.
- Handle piglet litters and support piglet care through weaning.
- Wash, clean, and disinfect rooms and farm areas.
- Provide attentive care to sows and piglets.
- Watch animals closely for signs of illness or injury.
- Check that ventilation and temperature remain suitable.
- Follow farm safety rules and biosecurity procedures.
- Carry out general farm tasks as needed.
Work Conditions
- Ability to lift heavy items is required.
- Familiarity with animal behavior is important for the role.
- Work takes place in barns and may involve exposure to dust and odors.
Experience and Education
No formal education is required. Applicants should have 7 months to 1 year of relevant experience and strong observation skills.
Pay
The position pays $19 per hour.
