About Pi

Pi is creating an agentic product security platform for teams that need to protect software at the same pace they build it.

As development speeds up, security knowledge is often spread across code, tickets, documents, incidents, reviews, and the people who remember prior decisions. Pi brings that context together into a shared security memory so teams can investigate more quickly, remediate with context, stop repeat vulnerability patterns, and place security guardrails directly into everyday engineering workflows.

The company is building toward a future where security is not a final-stage blocker, but an integrated part of how software is planned, reviewed, shipped, and improved.

About the Role

Pi is hiring a Frontend Software Engineer with 3 to 6 years of experience delivering modern, high-quality web applications.

In this role, you will shape the product experience for Pi’s agentic security platform and translate complex security workflows into interfaces that are fast, clear, and trustworthy. You will collaborate closely with product, design, backend engineering, and security specialists to create the surfaces engineers and security teams use to assess risk, investigate findings, review context, and take action.

This position is well suited to someone who values product quality, frontend craftsmanship, interaction design, and polished interfaces for technically complex products.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and support production-ready frontend features using TypeScript, React, and Next.js.
  • Design responsive, accessible, and refined experiences for demanding security and developer workflows.
  • Build user-facing surfaces for findings, investigations, remediation flows, dashboards, forms, tables, filters, and detailed record views.
  • Work with React Server Components and modern routing patterns to keep the product fast and maintainable.
  • Create reusable UI building blocks with Tailwind CSS, design tokens, design systems, and accessible component primitives.
  • Connect the frontend to type-safe client/server data access patterns and modern query management approaches.
  • Keep UI state, application state, and URL state organized in a predictable and maintainable way.
  • Implement reliable forms and validation flows for high-trust product interactions.
  • Build dense tables and data-heavy views that stay usable, performant, and easy to understand.
  • Use component development, visual regression, and frontend testing tools to improve consistency and quality.
  • Work with product and design to turn unclear customer needs into simple and effective workflows.
  • Review code and help strengthen frontend architecture, testing, accessibility, and long-term maintainability.

What We’re Looking For

  • 3 to 6 years of professional software engineering experience with a strong emphasis on frontend work.
  • Advanced skills in TypeScript, React, and modern frontend architecture.
  • Experience shipping applications with Next.js or comparable full-stack React frameworks.
  • Comfort with server-rendered, client-rendered, and hybrid application patterns.
  • Hands-on experience with Tailwind CSS or a similar utility-first styling approach.
  • Familiarity with design systems, reusable component patterns, and accessible UI primitives.
  • Experience with modern data fetching, query management, and type-safe API patterns.
  • Solid understanding of forms, validation, routing, and URL-driven state.
  • Experience creating complex tables, dashboards, workflows, or other data-intensive interfaces.
  • Experience writing frontend tests at unit, component, integration, and end-to-end levels.
  • Strong debugging ability and careful attention to product details.
  • Comfort working in a fast-moving startup environment with ownership, autonomy, and sound judgment.

Technologies We Use

  • TypeScript
  • React
  • Next.js App Router
  • React Server Components
  • Tailwind CSS
  • tRPC
  • Storybook
  • Chromatic
  • Vitest
  • React Testing Library
  • Playwright

Nice to Have

  • Background building security products, developer tools, infrastructure software, or enterprise products with heavy data usage.
  • Experience with React Server Components and app-router-based architectures.
  • Exposure to type-safe API frameworks.
  • Experience with component-led development and visual regression testing.
  • Experience working in monorepos, workspace-based package management, and modern frontend tooling.
  • Strong product thinking and the ability to make thoughtful UX tradeoffs.
  • Interest in security, AI-assisted development, or agentic workflows.

Success In This Role Looks Like

  • Complicated security workflows feel simple, quick, and intuitive for users.
  • Product surfaces are polished, accessible, high-performing, and dependable.
  • Frontend patterns become easier for the team to reuse and extend.
  • Engineers can move quickly without introducing brittle UI or inconsistent experiences.
  • The product helps customers understand risk, respond faster, and reduce repeated security issues.
