Job description
About the Role
A fast-growing, Y Combinator–backed enterprise AI automation company is hiring a Forward Deployed Engineer based in Munich to embed directly with major DACH enterprise customers and help them become AI-native. You will work alongside an Enterprise AI Transformation Lead, scoping, building, and shipping production-grade AI agents and integrations that deliver measurable business value — and feed those learnings back into the core product.
This is a high-ownership, high-impact role at the intersection of engineering and customer success. You will be on the ground with customers, acting as a technical peer to CTOs and platform teams, and leaving behind systems they can own and operate independently.
Significant travel across the DACH region is expected. Native-level German proficiency is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
What You'll Do
Serve as the engineer on the ground at major DACH enterprise accounts, partnering closely with the Enterprise AI Transformation Lead.
Embed on-site with customers, running workshops, hackathons, and implementation sprints.
Scope, build, integrate, debug, and teach customer teams to adopt production AI agents and workflows.
Ship end-to-end, high-leverage use cases: complex agents, custom integrations, MCP servers, and multi-step workflows.
Act as a technical peer and sparring partner with customer CTOs and platform teams.
Deliver solutions customers can own and operate independently after you leave.
Identify platform limitations and work directly with internal engineering — often writing fixes yourself.
Push the product forward by surfacing and implementing customer-driven improvements.
Automate your own work by building agents that eliminate manual tasks.
What We're Looking For
Dealbreakers (must-haves):
3+ years of enterprise software engineering experience delivering production-grade AI agentic workflows for enterprise customers.
Demonstrated experience shipping agentic AI systems, tool-use loops, and LLM-powered features that operate reliably under load.
Native-level German proficiency.
Based in Munich or willing to relocate, with the ability to travel extensively across DACH.
Required:
Experience shipping a product or feature from scratch in a professional engineering setting.
Strong full-stack engineering skills with the ability to scope and implement end-to-end solutions, including external system integrations and multi-step workflows.
On-site customer-facing experience with large DACH enterprises — running workshops, hackathons, and implementation sprints; able to scope a complex use case in a customer meeting and deliver it end-to-end.
Experience building custom integrations with enterprise systems and MCP servers for agent deployment.
Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
High agency, high energy, sharp communication, low ego, and strong ownership mindset.
Nice to Have:
Go programming language experience.
Founder or early-employee experience at a startup.
Experience with AI coding tools (e.g. Claude Code, Cursor, or similar) for building and deploying agents.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: €80,000 – €150,000 per year, depending on experience.
Early-stage equity opportunity at a well-funded, high-growth company.
Work at the cutting edge of enterprise AI automation with a team with backgrounds at top-tier tech, consulting, and engineering organisations.
Location
Primary location: Munich, Bavaria, Germany — on-site.
Significant travel across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland (DACH region) is a core part of the role.
Visa sponsorship is not available; candidates must have the right to work in Germany.
