About the Role
Join our team as a Foodservice Worker, where you will play an essential role in preparing and distributing meals to students and staff within a school cafeteria. This full-time onsite position is suitable for individuals eager to contribute positively in a community-focused environment, whether you are experienced in food service or new to the field.
Primary Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve food items according to established recipes, production plans, and safety protocols.
- Ensure the kitchen and service areas remain clean, safe, and well-organized throughout your shift.
- Replenish food items on serving lines, salad bars, and beverages storage including milk coolers.
- Adhere strictly to food storage, rotation practices, and sanitation standards.
- Provide courteous meal service to students, school staff, and visitors.
- Assist with receiving deliveries and inventory management.
- Perform routine cleaning duties such as sweeping, mopping, and trash removal.
- Comply with all relevant health regulations at the local, state, and federal levels.
- Support coworkers and cover shifts when necessary to ensure uninterrupted service.
- Complete required reports and meet submission deadlines.
- Perform any additional tasks needed to support the kitchen team and meal service program.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Previous experience in food service or custodial work is preferred but not mandatory.
- Strong work ethic and ability to collaborate effectively with team members.
- Capability to perform repetitive tasks consistently and follow routine guidelines.
- Basic proficiency in mathematics and computer usage.
- Successful clearance of background check and fingerprint screening.
- Reliable transportation to and from work.
- Comfortable working around children and thrives in a school community setting.
- Demonstrated respectfulness, inclusiveness, and professionalism towards coworkers and customers.
Physical and Environmental Conditions
- Ability to stand through entire work shifts and occasionally lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Regular engagement in physical activities such as bending, reaching, walking, and manual tasks.
- Adaptability to a moderately noisy, fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Standard full-time work schedule Monday through Friday, with potential for some extended weeks.
- Possible participation in additional company events or meetings.
