Organizational Unit Overview
Campus Operations at ECU is part of the Administration and Finance Division and employs around 500 people with an annual budget exceeding $30 million. This unit comprises Facilities Engineering & Architectural Services, Facilities Services, and Housekeeping Services. It is tasked with maintaining university properties including buildings and grounds across multiple campuses. Responsibilities include construction projects, maintenance and repairs in utilities and building services, grounds upkeep, recycling, refuse removal, sustainability initiatives, moving services, and housekeeping support across various university spaces.
Role Purpose
The Floor Technician role involves performing floor care and restoration throughout assigned university facilities. Key duties include stripping and refinishing floors, cleaning and maintaining various hard floor types, using orbital scrubbers and other floor care equipment, and carrying out carpet maintenance activities such as bonnet cleaning and extraction. The position requires collaboration with team members and supervisors to coordinate and complete floor care tasks according to departmental standards.
Work Schedule and Location
This full-time position generally works Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with potential variations. The work location is Greenville, North Carolina.
Compensation
The salary range is $33,540 to $41,725 annually, with the anticipated hiring salary between $33,540 and $34,547. The position is classified as NC01 with equivalency to Building Environmental Services Technician - Journey level.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Demonstrated competencies necessary to perform floor maintenance and cleaning tasks.
- Some roles may require special licenses or certifications, though none are mandated by regulation for this position.
- Preferred candidates possess a valid North Carolina Driver’s License.
- Applicants must currently be authorized to work full-time in the United States and able to live and work in North Carolina or within reasonable commuting distance after hire.
