Job description
About the Role
North Texas Plastic Surgery is a leading, rapidly expanding private plastic surgery and medical aesthetics group with twelve locations including six med spas, an accredited surgery center, an anesthesia group, and approximately 115 employees generating $29 million in annual revenue. We are seeking an inaugural in-house Controller to establish and lead our accounting function. This is a foundational position focused on developing a robust financial infrastructure for a growing multi-entity enterprise. Reporting directly to the CEO and collaborating with executive leadership, this is an exceptional opportunity to build a finance department from scratch with ample resources and meaningful business impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Transition bookkeeping and monthly financial closing processes internally, instituting a disciplined schedule to deliver financials by the 10th business day each month.
- Manage complex accounting and consolidation across multiple entities, including intercompany transaction processing and eliminations, spanning surgical practice, med spas, surgery center, and anesthesia operations.
- Develop detailed location-level Profit & Loss reporting and management dashboards usable by leadership to oversee business performance by site, service line, and provider.
- Design and enforce internal controls, accounting policies, and chart of accounts, enhancing or replacing outdated systems and processes.
- Oversee cash flow management, accounts payable/receivable, payroll accounting, and fixed asset/capital equipment accounting.
- Collaborate with external CPA firm on taxation, and assist with partnership or company valuation projects.
- Recruit, train, and lead a small internal accounting team as the department expands.
Qualifications and Experience
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation required, with a bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- Minimum 7 years progressive accounting experience including at least 3 years in a Controller or Assistant Controller role.
- Essential experience with multi-entity, multi-location accounting environments, preferably in healthcare, dental/DSO, med spa, veterinary, or comparable multi-site consumer services sectors.
- Proven track record of building or revamping accounting functions including systems implementation, speeding financial close, and cleaning up financial records.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks accounting software.
- Strong initiative and ownership mindset; proactive in identifying and resolving issues independently.
Compensation and Benefits
- Base salary range of $150,000 to $175,000 depending on experience plus performance-based bonuses.
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage.
- 401(k) retirement savings plan and paid time off.
- Direct collaboration with CEO and executive leadership team without bureaucratic barriers.
- Stable and profitable, founder-led company with ongoing growth in locations, service lines, and partnerships.
