Position Summary

The Financial Controller will be responsible for managing the entire spectrum of accounting operations, financial reporting, ensuring compliance, and overseeing risk management for Müller Expo and its affiliates.

Core Responsibilities

Direct accounting activities including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, general ledger maintenance, and month-end and year-end closings.
Produce accurate and timely financial reports and statements.
Handle consolidation of financials for multiple entities both domestically and internationally.
Manage financial operations in CAD and USD currencies, including oversight of foreign exchange and cross-border transactions.
Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning efforts.
Maintain compliance with Canadian tax laws, corporate tax filings, audits, and required regulatory submissions.
Oversee reporting related to Canadian government grants and funding programs.
Establish and maintain robust internal controls and compliance frameworks.
Collaborate with executive leadership to align financial strategies with business growth objectives.
Support or lead due diligence and integration activities for mergers and acquisitions.
Develop financial models to aid strategic and operational decisions.
Enhance internal financial systems and processes for improved accuracy and scalability.
Identify, assess, and manage financial risks, including those related to international operations and currency volatility.
Ensure adherence to financial regulations and industry standards.
Oversee insurance, governance policies, and financial risk controls.
Evaluate and upgrade accounting systems and reporting tools; implement process automation and best practices.
Lead, mentor, and develop the finance and accounting team.
Effectively communicate financial results and insights to executive leadership and stakeholders.
Work cross-functionally with operations, project management, and production units to ensure cohesive financial strategies.
Act as a trusted financial advisor to senior leadership.

Qualifications

7 to 10+ years of progressive experience in financial leadership roles.
Experience managing organizations with annual revenues between $20 million and $25 million.
Proven expertise in handling multi-entity and international financial environments.
Strong knowledge of operating across USD and CAD currency domains.
In-depth understanding of Canadian tax regulations and compliance.
Experience managing government grant reporting and funding programs.
Expertise in multi-entity consolidation and mergers and acquisitions support or leadership.
Strong background in regulatory compliance and risk management specifically in finance.
CPA certification is mandatory.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline.

Financial Controller
