Role Summary
The Financial Analyst, Plant Finance, collaborates closely with plant management and regional finance leaders to provide insightful financial analysis, ensure precise reporting, and enhance operational efficiencies. This position plays a critical role in month-end closing, financial scrutiny, and reporting duties, fostering strong relationships with plant leadership and operational teams.
Responsibilities
- Assist in executing pre-close and month-end close procedures, including inventory verification, journal entries, reconciliations, and variance investigations to maintain accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Produce monthly and quarterly financial statements featuring detailed analysis and commentary for senior finance review.
- Validate Bills of Material and raw material consumption to support cost accuracy efforts.
- Contribute to manufacturing product cost analysis and reporting initiatives.
- Provide financial insights to plant management aiding strategic decisions.
- Analyze operational data such as production metrics, scrap rates, and yields in relation to financial outcomes to uncover improvement opportunities.
- Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs), refining them as business demands evolve.
- Ensure adherence to plant processes, escalating compliance issues as necessary.
- Maintain strong communication and relationships with plant personnel through routine interaction and onsite visits.
- Support annual planning and forecasting activities by collecting data, modeling scenarios, and analyzing variances.
- Monitor actual performance against plans and forecasts, explaining key drivers affecting results.
- Engage in special analyses and cross-departmental projects as assigned.
- Continuously enhance knowledge of plant operations, costing techniques, and financial procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting; an MBA is considered an advantage.
- CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification is preferred or currently pursued.
- At least 3–5 years of advancing experience in financial analysis or accounting within manufacturing settings.
- Familiarity with cost accounting, management accounting, and budgeting principles.
- Understanding of accounting regulations such as IFRS and/or GAAP.
- Proficient in ERP platforms (preferably JD Edwards) and possess intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
- Effective communication with a proven ability to work collaboratively with finance and operations teams.
