Role Overview

As a Finance Trainee, you will play a key role in linking financial raw data to strategic decisions. This position combines elements of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) and Controlling, providing experience in forecasting as well as managing and optimizing the company's current financial performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing monthly forecasts and supporting the annual budgeting cycle.
• Analyze and explain differences between actual financial outcomes and planned budgets.
• Support senior analysts by developing financial models to assess potential new ventures or cost reduction strategies.
• Contribute to the preparation of monthly performance reports for executive leadership.
• Assist with month-end closing activities including full-time employee (FTE) and key performance indicator (KPI) reports.
• Help consolidate cash flow data from accounts payable and receivables for liquidity planning.
• Participate in reviewing balance sheets and free cash flow for month-end closing, identifying notable variances.
• Review and propose improvements to financial processes to enhance automation and reduce manual work.
• Assist in verifying GST tax reports and preparing documentation for internal and external audits.

Candidate Requirements

• Final year student or recent graduate in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration.
• Advanced skills in spreadsheet software like Excel or Google Sheets, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP; familiarity with report automation tools such as Google Data Studio or Looker.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with keen analytical thinking.
• High level of ownership to ensure completion of projects.
• Ability to manage pressure, attention to detail, and a proactive problem-solving mindset.
