About the Role and Company

Key Responsibilities
- Ensure a safe and stable workplace by rigorously applying company and industry safety protocols, maintaining safety-related documentation, and adhering to PPE, LOTO, and permit-to-work systems.
- Participate in Process Hazard Analyses and vigilantly monitor safety-critical equipment to guarantee compliance with process safety and operational requirements.
- Act as a certified first responder during plant emergencies, managing firefighting, gas leak responses, emergency shutdowns, and operation of emergency equipment.
- Maintain environmental compliance, preventing chemical spills and safeguarding operational personnel via safety programs.
- Operate the Steam Methane Reformer hydrogen plant, including CO2 removal, compression units, PSA, membrane units, and associated utilities according to procedural instructions.
- Manage hydrogen, steam, and CO2 pipeline networks efficiently to meet customer demands while maintaining safety and product quality standards.
- Monitor process variables closely through routine field rounds, making real-time adjustments to maintain operational parameters and collecting process samples.
- Execute safe start-up and shutdown sequences from various conditions and support commissioning activities and plant turnarounds.
- Coordinate with control room operators and maintenance teams for equipment adjustments, isolations, and restarts, ensuring smooth communication and safety adherence.
- Maintain comprehensive and accurate logs of operational data, events, and parameters; deliver thorough shift handovers highlighting any concerns or ongoing tasks.
- Investigate process deviations collaboratively with engineers to identify root causes and implement improvements.
- Lead and contribute to operational enhancement and de-bottlenecking initiatives to boost plant safety, reliability, and profitability.
- Support maintenance schedules, environmental compliance, shutdown planning, and provide mentorship to new field operators.
- Carry out any additional assignments from supervisors promptly to optimize plant operations.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Process Operations Engineering preferred; Associate Technical Degree with sufficient experience considered.
- Minimum five years of field operation experience in SMR-based Hydrogen, Ammonia, Methanol, or Syngas plants.
- In-depth knowledge of SMR processes, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, furnaces, compressors, and rotating machinery, combined with strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
- Comprehensive understanding of operations, engineering, and maintenance coordination.
- Capable of maintaining high situational awareness and making sound decisions under pressure with strong problem-solving and diagnostic abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English to effectively liaise between operations and maintenance teams.
