About the role
This role focuses on facilitating supervised time between children and young people in out-of-home care and their families. You will help create a safe, encouraging setting where relationships can be maintained and strengthened, while working under the guidance of trained staff. The position also involves preparing contact visits, overseeing them, and documenting outcomes afterwards.
Key selection criteria
- A diploma in a field related to children or child welfare.
- Understanding of Aboriginal culture, along with awareness of the current concerns affecting Aboriginal children, young people, and families.
- Hands-on experience in supervised contact, out-of-home care, children’s services, youth work, or a similar setting.
- Solid knowledge of child and adolescent development, the effects of trauma, and signs that may indicate child abuse.
- Capability to handle difficult behaviour and help prevent or calm down crisis situations.
