Role overview
This temporary 12-month role offers the chance to help strengthen portfolio management capability within QAS and contribute to the rollout of a new portfolio management framework. The position supports the Queensland Ambulance Service as it shapes the future of portfolio, project and change management.
As part of the Portfolio Management Office, you will play an important leadership role by creating practical tools and guidance, coordinating a community of practice, advising stakeholders, and providing portfolio-level assurance across strategically significant initiatives.
What you will do
You will work across management, coordination and capability-building activities that improve how portfolio work is governed and delivered. The role requires a collaborative leader who can influence others, build strong working relationships, and help drive meaningful organisational change.
Selection criteria
- Proven experience overseeing a portfolio of work, with a solid understanding of public sector legislation, policy settings, governance and compliance.
- Strong track record of creating and putting into practice governance arrangements that are efficient, effective and suited to portfolio management.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, consultation and collaboration abilities, with a demonstrated capacity to build and sustain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Well-developed conceptual thinking, analysis and problem-solving skills, plus the ability to manage several priorities, deadlines and accountabilities at once.
- Strong working knowledge of portfolio, program, project and/or change management frameworks and methods.
- Demonstrated experience supporting organisational change and service system reform in a complex operating environment involving diverse stakeholders.
Mandatory and other conditions
- Although not essential, qualifications at tertiary or postgraduate level in portfolio management, project management, change management or a related field will be looked on favourably, as will experience working in a Portfolio Management Office.
- You may need to travel for official duties, and holding a C-class driver licence may be required.
- Applications will stay current for 12 months.
