European Operator

About the Role

We are seeking a customer-oriented European Operator to join our team based in Kildare. This position focuses on managing European road freight imports, coordinating shipments, and ensuring excellent client service. You will be responsible for overseeing the entire import road freight process, liaising with carriers, overseas partners, customers, and internal teams to ensure punctual, compliant, and efficient delivery of goods in a dynamic environment. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and multitasking capabilities are essential to excel in this role.

Primary Duties

• Oversee the full import operation of European road freight shipments.
• Collaborate with customers, carriers, overseas agents, and internal units to guarantee timely freight movement.
• Track shipment progress and actively resolve delays, exceptions, or service issues.
• Maintain precise shipment documentation within company systems.
• Ensure all tasks adhere to company protocols, transport regulations, and client specifications.
• Provide excellent customer service, managing expectations professionally.
• Monitor financial aspects, including costs and profitability, to ensure commercial viability.
• Negotiate terms and rates with carriers and suppliers as needed.
• Regularly update customers and stakeholders on shipment status and operational metrics.
• Identify opportunities to recommend additional services that support business expansion.
• Promptly escalate critical operational or commercial issues appropriately.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and boost operational efficiency within the department.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Experience in European road freight forwarding, preferably with import operations; candidates with sea or air freight background plus some road freight exposure will also be considered.
• Comprehensive knowledge of road freight regulations, processes, and forwarding operations.
• Strong skills in customer service and relationship management.
• Exceptional organizational abilities to manage multiple deadlines and shipments simultaneously.
• High accuracy and attention to detail.
• Commercial awareness related to costs, margins, and profitability.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Effective problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset for issue resolution.
• Experience using freight forwarding operational systems and platforms.
• Ability to foster positive working relationships with customers, carriers, suppliers, and internal teams.
• Self-driven and adaptable, with capability to work independently or collaboratively.
