Estimator / Estimating Quantity Surveyor

Overview

Linsco Ltd, a respected family-owned contractor, seeks an Estimator / Estimating Quantity Surveyor to join their Property Services division based in Derby. The role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to refurbishment, maintenance, and property improvement projects across the Midlands. You will be an integral member of the commercial team responsible for accurate pricing, project support, and ensuring successful commercial outcomes from tender through completion.

Key Duties

• Produce detailed and precise cost estimates for refurbishment and property services projects up to £5 million.
• Source, evaluate, and analyze quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Calculate pricing for labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractor packages.
• Assist in managing the commercial aspects of ongoing projects on-site.
• Price and handle variations in project scope and orders.
• Create subcontract orders and procurement documentation.
• Conduct Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs) and generate commercial reports for active projects.
• Collaborate with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to facilitate smooth project delivery.
• Contribute to maintaining profitability and healthy commercial performance throughout project lifecycles.

Candidate Profile

• Previous experience as an Estimator, Estimating Quantity Surveyor, or Quantity Surveyor in construction.
• Experience working with Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractors as an Estimator preferred.
• Familiarity with estimating refurbishment, maintenance, or general construction projects is highly valuable.
• Strong commercial insight including cost control and financial project management understanding.
• Proven experience handling subcontractor and supplier enquiries and procurement duties.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to engage effectively with clients.
• Team player with the ability to work collaboratively within a commercial team environment.
• Possession of a full UK driving license; work may require travel within approximately 50 miles of Derby office.
