Team Environment
The US Small and Mid Cap Team consists of five senior analysts overseeing around $7.5 billion in assets across three strategies targeting Small, SMID, and Mid Cap equities—with the capacity to manage over $15 billion. The investment approach prioritizes quality and improving fundamentals, maintaining strict valuation discipline to mitigate downside risk and navigating less-than-perfect information thoughtfully. Investment focus revolves around three alpha drivers: mispriced growth, stable performers, and turnaround opportunities.
Core Responsibilities
- Generate investment ideas primarily through fundamental bottom-up analysis of stocks within the Industrials sector.
- Collaborate directly with the Portfolio Manager and Head of Research to pinpoint top investment prospects aiming to outperform relevant benchmarks.
- Evaluate and compare investment recommendations against Industrials sector benchmarks including Russell Small, SMID, and Mid Cap indices.
- Prepare and present detailed stock recommendations and investment reports to senior team members, contributing to active portfolio weighting discussions.
- Participate in all phases of the investment cycle—from sourcing and analyzing potential opportunities to facilitating capital allocation decisions.
Required Knowledge and Experience
- At least 10 years of cumulative experience in the financial industry, with no less than 5 years focused on covering the Industrials sector.
- Demonstrated expertise in fundamental stock analysis, financial modeling, and an in-depth understanding of the Small and Mid-Cap Industrial markets.
- Comprehensive insight into stock performance drivers within various industrial sub-sectors and across different economic phases.
Candidate Attributes
- Strong collaborative skills, thriving in an environment that encourages debate and challenge of investment ideas.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills with the ability to persuasively advocate for or against portfolio stock inclusions.
Compensation and Inclusion
The role offers a base salary between $200,000 and $240,000, with actual salary subject to factors including location, experience, and market conditions. Schroders is committed to diversity and inclusion, providing equal employment opportunities irrespective of race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, disability, veteran status, or other protected characteristics.
