Job description

About sensmore

sensmore revolutionizes automation in heavy machinery by applying innovative Physical AI technology. This enables machines like wheel loaders to adapt dynamically and perform novel tasks in real time without prior training. Our platform integrates state-of-the-art robotics to enhance intelligence and automation for clients in mining, construction, and related sectors.

Role Summary

We seek an experienced Electronics / Embedded Engineer to contribute significantly to our team. The position involves designing electronic systems and embedded firmware that link our AI technology with industrial machines, ensuring reliability in challenging field conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engineer custom electronic hardware, including schematic design, PCB creation, and selecting components for sensor interfaces, power management, and machine controls.
  • Develop and test embedded firmware on microcontrollers focused on capturing sensor data, controlling actuators, and handling safety-critical functions.
  • Manage the complete electrical system architecture, addressing power distribution, electrical protection, grounding, EMC compliance, and constructing robust wiring harnesses.
  • Work collaboratively across disciplines to integrate hardware and firmware from prototype through testing and into repeatable manufacturing processes.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or equivalent disciplines.
  • Strong proficiency in embedded C/C++ programming for ARM Cortex-M or similar microcontrollers.
  • Experience moving electronics from schematic design to functional hardware using tools like Altium or KiCad.
  • Deep understanding of communication protocols including CAN/CAN FD, I2C, SPI, UART, and Ethernet, along with relevant debugging tools.
  • Hands-on experience deploying electronics and harnesses in harsh industrial or automotive settings, focusing on power protection and signal integrity.

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of off-highway machinery, automotive systems, or other safety-sensitive platforms.
  • Familiarity with safety and EMC standards such as ISO 13849, IEC 61508, or CISPR 25.
  • Experience with electrical integration involving Linux-based platforms, e.g., NVIDIA Jetson or industrial PCs.
  • Understanding of motors, actuators, valve drivers, and closed-loop control systems.
  • Proven success in scaling hardware from prototypes to production and supporting field maintenance.

What We Offer

  • Opportunity to create Physical AI solutions for the largest off-highway machines, enhancing safety and intelligence.
  • Work in a pioneering robotics company backed by prominent investors.
  • Engagement with advanced robotics research and real-world mobile machinery applications.
  • Pathways for career development toward technical specialization or leadership.
  • Supportive team culture, refreshments on-site, and an inspiring workspace in Berlin.

Additional Benefits

  • Competitive salary and stock options.
  • Social events and on-site beverages.
  • Collaboration with eminent researchers and engineers.
  • Chance to shape future robotic technologies and address significant engineering challenges.
  • Relocation assistance for Berlin-based candidates.
