Overview

As a Designer at Crate and Barrel, you will passionately assist customers in envisioning their ideal living spaces with the latest trends in home interiors. Your expertise across styles from classic to modern will enable you to create beautiful designs using digital tools for in-store, in-home, and virtual consultations. You will foster strong, lasting customer relationships while promoting programs, managing leads, and actively engaging customers on the sales floor.

Key Responsibilities

• Boost sales and enhance customer experience through meaningful interactions and premium design services both in-person and virtually.
• Prepare sophisticated design presentations including mood boards, 2D and 3D floor plans, product lists, and tailored customer proposals.
• Lead design consultations at the store, customers’ homes, or through email, phone, and video calls.
• Deliver projects punctually and adhere to established deadlines.
• Maintain a strong understanding of brand style and merchandising strategies across store, online, and catalog channels.
• Stay informed about product details, care instructions, competitor products, and interior design trends.
• Meet individual sales targets, KPIs, productivity goals, and actively engage customers by applying effective sales techniques.
• Listen attentively to customers to identify the best products for their needs and promote company loyalty offerings like designer rewards and trade programs.
• Demonstrate positive attitude and enthusiasm to provide courteous, prompt, and efficient customer service.
• Educate and train store staff on available design services to increase awareness and understanding.
• Cultivate new and ongoing client relationships through networking and personalized service.
• Possess foundational knowledge of spatial planning, fabric choices, lighting, and design styles.
• Communicate clearly and promptly to translate brand vision and client requirements.
• Proficiently utilize technology including 2D/3D design software, Google Suite, video conferencing, and iPads.
• Keep current on evolving design trends and adapt to business changes as needed.

Qualifications & Experience

• At least 1 year of experience in furniture sales, home decor design, retail, or customer service.
• Experience advising clients on one-on-one basis with suitable design solutions.
• Proficiency with virtual communication tools and design software preferred.
