About the Role
Alzheimers Marlborough operates a day programme at their Centre on Wither Road, supported by a dedicated group of volunteers. As a volunteer, your role will include assisting with indoor activities, accompanying clients during garden walks, and engaging in friendly conversations with participants.
Responsibilities
You will help create an engaging and supportive environment by interacting warmly with clients, joining in activities, and providing companionship to brighten their day.
Requirements
Applicants should possess a kind and patient nature, a dependable character, a good sense of humor, and empathy toward others. Prior knowledge about dementia or Alzheimer's disease is not necessary as training and support are provided. Volunteers must have clear spoken English to communicate effectively with clients who may have dementia or hearing difficulties. A police background check is mandatory for this position.
Additional Information
Volunteers of all ages are encouraged to apply. Morning shift volunteers receive a complimentary lunch. The minimum time commitment is one four-hour shift every two weeks, with volunteering available on weekdays only.
