Role Overview
This position offers an exciting opportunity for a data-oriented analyst passionate about distilling complex datasets into actionable and clear insights. Your contributions are pivotal in delivering reliable, timely, and accessible tourism and organisational performance data, which will support planning efforts, reporting requirements, and informed decision-making across the organisation.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and sustain reporting frameworks, dashboards, data pipelines, and performance monitoring tools integrating key tourism and organisational data sources.
- Analyze data to detect trends, risks, opportunities, and anomalies, translating these findings into straightforward, compelling visual narratives suitable for internal teams, governmental bodies, and the wider industry.
- Collaborate closely with the Head of Business Planning and Performance alongside the broader insights team to assist with business strategy, government reporting, and responses to specific queries.
- Utilize technologies such as Power BI, SQL, and authorised AI analytics platforms to enhance reporting automation, data integrity, pattern recognition, and insight extraction.
Candidate Requirements
- A tertiary qualification in Data Science, Economics, Statistics, Analytics, or a related field, or comparable hands-on experience.
- Minimum two years’ experience in data analysis, analytics reporting, or performance insight roles.
- Proficient with SQL and Power BI, especially in developing and managing dashboards, datasets, reusable data models, and semantic layers; familiarity with Python and/or R is advantageous.
- Solid understanding of principles around data mining, data warehousing, processing, visualization, and reporting.
- Competent in aggregating, blending, and interpreting multi-source data, converting analysis into pragmatic advice.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities, able to simplify and visually express insights effectively for diverse audiences.
- Comfortable leveraging AI-powered analytics and productivity tools to support analysis, streamline reporting, automate tasks, and assist in documentation.
- Approaches work with creativity, attentiveness to detail, adaptability, sound judgement, constructive problem-solving, and a dedication to continual learning.
