Cybersecurity Analyst

Role overview

This is a part-time, entry-level Cybersecurity Analyst position based in Sydney, New South Wales, with a hybrid work setup that combines office presence and work-from-home flexibility. The role supports the security team in keeping an eye on systems and networks, spotting unusual activity, and helping to investigate and record possible security issues.

What you’ll do

You’ll help review security alerts, support basic malware and threat investigations, and contribute to vulnerability checks while working under the direction of senior team members. The role also includes keeping security records up to date, drafting short incident summaries, and assisting with the rollout of standard security controls and good-practice measures.

In addition, you will work with IT and business stakeholders, join training and knowledge-sharing sessions, and contribute to ongoing improvements in security workflows and procedures.

Qualifications

• A basic understanding of cybersecurity ideas and practices, including risk, threats, and common security frameworks.
• Knowledge of network security fundamentals, such as firewalls, intrusion detection or prevention systems, and secure network design.
• Interest in application security, secure coding principles, and common software weaknesses.
• Some exposure to malware or threat analysis, with the ability to follow established investigation steps for suspicious files or activity.
• Strong analytical ability to interpret information, spot patterns, and document findings clearly.
• Education in cybersecurity, information technology, computer science, or a similar area, whether through a degree, diploma, or ongoing study.
• Good written and spoken communication skills, plus the ability to collaborate effectively in a hybrid team setup.
• A willingness to learn new tools and technologies and work toward relevant certifications over time, such as CompTIA Security+ or ISO 27001 awareness.

Work arrangement

This role is part-time and based in Sydney, NSW. The arrangement is hybrid, meaning it includes both on-site work and remote flexibility.
