Correction Officer Trainee

Overview

Correction Officer Trainees undergo a mandatory 12-month training curriculum that prepares them to progress to full Correction Officers. The training entails attending the Correctional Services Training Academy, which includes at least an 8-week formal instruction phase.

Role Responsibilities

Correction Officers are entrusted with maintaining custody and ensuring the security and well-being of inmates across various state correctional facilities, including shock incarceration facilities, work release centers, and drug treatment campuses.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position spans from $61,365 to $101,269. Additional financial incentives include inconvenience pay, location pay, pre-shift briefing pay, expanded duty pay, and hazardous duty pay.

The benefits package features annual vacation entitlement starting at 104 hours and extending up to 156 hours based on service length, 104 hours of paid holiday leave, 40 hours of personal leave per year, and accumulating paid sick leave at 104 hours yearly.
