Construction Quality Checker

Overview

PCE Limited invites applications for the role of Construction Quality Checker based in Manchester, joining our specialized Construction team. This fixed-term project role, estimated at two years, contributes critically to our commitment to quality by ensuring that precast concrete structural elements meet rigorous standards on-site, minimizing defects and rework.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed inspections of installed precast elements to verify geometry, tolerances, alignment, and finish quality.
• Employ both digital and traditional measuring devices such as levels, gauges, and tapes to document adherence to specifications.
• Record, report, and escalate any non-conformities or defects using the Novade software system and confirm resolution before the official handover.
• Complete and upload checklists and photographic evidence to support quality records; maintain defect logs and contribute to Unit QA documentation.
• Work closely with the Handover Manager and General Foreman to schedule inspections, attend coordination meetings, and provide clarity on quality issues needing rectification.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental protocols including adherence to PPE requirements and hazard reporting within the Novade or event logging systems.

Required Skills and Behaviours

• Possession of a valid CSCS card essential.
• Experience in quality control or inspection within construction environments, preferably with knowledge of precast concrete or structural works.
• Proficient with measuring tools and digital quality assurance systems.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify defects effectively.
• Clear communication skills to report findings and engage operatives regarding corrective actions.
• Professionalism, integrity, and alignment with PCE's core leadership values of being humble, hungry, honest, and smart.

Desirable Qualifications

• Prior QA/QC site inspection experience with precast or insitu concrete.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality management systems.
