About the Organization and Position
The Alberta Sheriffs Police Service (ASPS), established in July 2025, represents a new provincial policing model in Alberta dedicated to enhancing public safety and supporting communities across the province. ASPS complements existing law enforcement agencies and is committed to cultivating a culture grounded on professionalism, accountability, respect, and service. This is a full-time permanent opportunity offering 20 positions located across Alberta.
Role Overview and Opportunities
The Constable role involves frontline policing duties aimed at protecting individuals and communities while fostering public trust in law enforcement. Officers will have the unique chance to contribute to the development of Alberta's newest police force, help shape operational frameworks, and engage in community safety initiatives in diverse environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to service calls and emergency scenarios.
- Conduct thorough criminal, traffic, and regulatory investigations.
- Promote and support crime prevention and community safety programs.
- Provide assistance to victims, vulnerable populations, and community members requiring support.
- Maintain accurate reports, investigative records, and present credible evidence in judicial proceedings.

Required Qualifications and Conditions
- Completion of an approved police recruit training program and ASPS training upon hiring.
- Previous policing experience preferred and may be mandatory depending on ASPS standards.
- Appointment or eligibility to be appointed as a Police Officer in Alberta under the Police Act.
- Compliance with Provincial Policing Standards including certifications and use-of-force protocols.
- Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s Licence or equivalent.
- Fulfillment of professional standards and enhanced background screening requirements.
- Maintenance of fitness and required certifications throughout employment.
- Obligation to uphold ASPS policies and ethical standards at all times.
Additional Information and Terms
- The role reports directly to a Sergeant or equivalent frontline supervisor.
- This position is non-supervisory but may advise investigations or special teams operationally.
- The job involves exposure to significant physical risks including potential use of lethal force.
