Job description

Overview

We are looking to recruit a Compliance Officer to join Pionew Ireland's Compliance team in Cork. The ideal candidate will play an integral role in shaping the company’s regulatory framework, ensuring alignment with MiCA obligations and other evolving financial regulations in the cryptocurrency sector across the EU. Reporting directly to the Head of Compliance, this role offers a valuable opportunity to impact the growing crypto regulatory landscape.

Core Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing, implementing, and continuously improving the Compliance Framework, including policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Carry out compliance risk assessments and devise mitigation plans.
  • Execute compliance monitoring reviews and administer the compliance testing program.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of compliance decisions and facilitate internal/external audits, including audits by the Central Bank of Ireland.
  • Track upstream regulatory changes and collaborate internally to ensure new regulatory mandates are embedded within business practices.
  • Help design and deliver training programs to enhance compliance awareness among staff.
  • Ensure adherence to MiCAR, CPC, F&P, AMLD5/6, PSD2, DORA, and other relevant crypto and financial regulations.
  • Coordinate submission of regulatory reports and investigate any regulatory breaches, overseeing corrective actions.
  • Foster a culture of compliance throughout the organization by promoting compliance best practices.
  • Work jointly with internal departments and external stakeholders on regulatory compliance matters.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date compliance documentation and records.
  • Monitor and analyze upcoming EU regulatory developments and contribute insights to the organization's regulatory horizon scanning.
  • Prepare reliable management information reports for senior leadership to support internal compliance reporting.

Candidate Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in Law, Finance, Business, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in compliance, financial services, fintech, or crypto/virtual assets environments.
  • Strong expertise in MiCA and EU financial regulations; certifications like Compliance Institute/IOB or CAMS are advantageous.
  • Excellent analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Effective written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Capability to operate independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced context.
  • Residency within Ireland is required.
