About the Organisation
The Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica (PSOJ) serves as a national representative body uniting private sector groups, companies, and individuals dedicated to fostering a competitive and efficient business climate in Jamaica. The PSOJ actively shapes national policies concerning the political, social, and economic factors impacting Jamaica’s private sector and overall development. It operates under guidance from its Council and Executive Committee, maintaining dialogues with Government entities, political leaders, and the Opposition, while collaborating closely with multilateral and bilateral organizations to create and implement initiatives favoring national growth and sustainability.
Role Overview
We seek a dynamic Communications Associate skilled in writing, quick thinking, and delivering real-time content to enhance our organization's visibility and engagement. This role involves crafting compelling narratives, assisting with event coverage, and reinforcing the PSOJ’s presence in Jamaica’s national conversations. Working alongside the Communications and Marketing Executive, the successful candidate will drive impactful communication strategies that amplify the private sector's voice, support member interaction, and influence public discourse.
Key Responsibilities
- Create press releases, speeches, newsletters, communication briefs, website content, captions, and other corporate communications materials.
- Curate, schedule, and publish authorized content to promote engagement across PSOJ’s social media channels.
- Monitor traditional and digital media to detect emerging trends and opportunities related to the private sector.
- Assist in responding promptly to media, member, and stakeholder inquiries.
- Help plan and execute communications for PSOJ events, advocacy campaigns, forums, launches, and media interactions.
- Provide on-site communications support at events involving senior leadership.
- Capture photographs and videos during events highlighting speakers, audience, interviews, and behind-the-scenes moments.
- Develop immediate and follow-up content including summaries, quotes, captions, and website updates.
- Design or adapt digital content, graphics, and multimedia aligned with PSOJ’s branding.
- Support website and social media updates with the communications team.
- Contribute to the production of publications, presentations, reports, and communications such as the Annual Report.
- Track communications performance by assisting in analytics, reporting, and media monitoring.
- Maintain organized communications files, media lists, and content libraries.
- Provide administrative and project coordination assistance within the communications team.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, English, Media Studies, or a related field.
- Minimum of two years’ relevant experience demonstrating a strong portfolio in communications, writing, digital media, or related areas.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with strong news judgment and attention to detail.
- Knowledge and familiarity with social media platforms and current digital content trends.
- Competence using Canva or similar graphic design tools.
- Ability to operate smartphones or cameras to capture clear photos and short video clips for communications use.
- Basic skills in photo and video editing are advantageous.
- Experience with website content management systems, email marketing platforms, or media monitoring tools is a plus.
