Overview

The Claims Associate at Walmart Canada plays a crucial role in maintaining inventory accuracy and enhancing store profitability by properly managing damaged and returned goods following company policies. This position collaborates with vendors, store associates, and customers to secure necessary credits, uphold inventory control, and ensure seamless store functions. Meticulous attention to detail and excellent customer service skills are key to this role, helping safeguard company property and contribute to a positive environment for shoppers and staff alike.

Key Responsibilities

  • Efficiently scan damaged and stolen products to prevent losses.
  • Prepare returns, vendor requests, recalls, and donations by completing relevant documentation, packaging, and timely shipment.
  • Maintain a tidy, safe, and organized claims area by adhering to proper techniques for lifting, ladder use, and chemical disposal.
  • Adhere strictly to company protocols for processing damaged and recalled merchandise, keeping claims current, and completing documentation to minimize chargebacks.
  • Carry out assigned Customer Value Program (CVP) tasks and follow updated systems and processes.
  • Provide support to Office Support Associate and Direct Store Delivery Associate as needed.
  • Be flexible with work schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays, ensuring continuous smooth operations and consistent customer service quality.

Challenges in the Role

  • Manage a high volume of tasks in a fast-paced setting, especially during overnight shifts, with effective planning to stay energized and focused.
  • Maintain energy and concentration throughout shifts by managing work hours efficiently.
  • Handle demanding workloads with speed and accuracy to complete restocking and recovery duties on schedule.
  • Perform physical activities such as standing for long durations, bending, and lifting stock, equipment, or supplies weighing up to 20 lbs generally and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
  • Carry out repetitive tasks including stocking, zoning, and organizing merchandise while maintaining strong attention to detail and consistency to meet store standards.

Compensation

The starting hourly wage for this position is $17.70.
