Service Overview

The Private Rental Advocacy Service assists clients in private rental housing who are at risk of homelessness over short to medium terms (3-6 months). The role addresses issues like rental arrears and the underlying challenges that threaten tenancy security.

Role Details

As a Case Worker, you will engage with families and individuals facing domestic violence, substance abuse, mental health difficulties, employment issues, and tenancy responsibilities related to property upkeep. Your goal is to connect clients to relevant services to support employment, health, financial skills, and social engagement to achieve stable housing solutions.

Core Responsibilities

• Conduct assessments and offer informal counselling to enhance clients' personal, social development, and wellbeing.
• Provide therapeutic interventions and skill-building support such as outreach, capacity development, information sharing, and referral services.
• Facilitate access to recreational activities for children and their families where appropriate.
• Develop and maintain community networks and partnerships to deliver optimal client outcomes.

Candidate Profile

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Social Sciences, Psychology, or Counselling.
• At least two years' experience in housing-related community service roles.
• Proven expertise in outreach, homelessness support, individual/family case management.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with teamwork ability.
• Proficient computer skills for data recording related to service delivery.
• Ability to engage diverse groups including businesses, agencies, real estate agents, government, and various socio-economic backgrounds.
• Understanding and application of strength-based client service approaches.
• Valid driver's license, National Police Certificate (issued within past 12 months), and Working with Children Card required.
