Work Schedule and Location
This is a full-time onsite position based in Tampa, Florida, operating primarily on the first shift from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM EST, Monday through Friday, with overtime opportunities as needed.
Job Summary
The CAD Technician role supports engineering, operations, facilities, and automation projects by preparing and updating 2D AutoCAD drawings for manufacturing facilities across multiple sites. The role requires close collaboration with the Engineering & Operations Technology team to create precise facility layouts, production line schematics, equipment placements, safety plans, and construction documents.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Create, update, and maintain accurate 2D AutoCAD drawings for facility floor plans, production lines, utilities, and equipment configurations.
- Support automation and manufacturing layout projects by integrating OEM equipment drawings and documenting material flows.
- Assist with facility renovation, expansions, and new construction by developing equipment layouts, space utilization analyses, and incorporating field measurements into drawings.
- Develop and maintain safety, emergency evacuation, and regulatory drawings to comply with environmental and safety standards.
- Manage electronic drawing files and documentation to ensure organization, accessibility, and current revisions across all company locations.
- Perform field verification and measurements to support accurate drawing updates and project implementations.
- Occasionally travel to other company facilities in Charleston, SC and Los Angeles, CA for site visits as required.
- Engage in other relevant duties as assigned to support operations and engineering teams.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree or technical certification in CAD, Drafting, Engineering Technology, Architecture, Industrial Technology, or related disciplines, or equivalent practical experience.
- Proficiency in using AutoCAD software and understanding of fundamental drafting principles and standards.
- Ability to interpret complex technical drawings and equipment layout plans accurately.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
- Competency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Capability to handle multiple projects and priorities effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Internship experience, cooperative education, or 1-3 years working as a CAD technician.
- Familiarity with industrial, manufacturing, construction, or facilities-related AutoCAD work environments.
- Experience with facility layouts, floor plans, or construction drawing documentation.
- Exposure to manufacturing processes or automation systems.
- Practice in conducting field measurements and updating as-built drawings.

- Facility drawings across locations are maintained with high accuracy and kept current.
- Provision of timely and effective CAD support on projects.
- Emergency, safety, evacuation, and regulatory drawings remain updated and compliant.
- Drawing files are systematically organized and easily retrievable.
- All changes to facilities and equipment are accurately documented and reflected in drawings.
