Role Summary
The position of Business Development Manager (BDM) is a full-time role based in Nairobi County, Kenya, requiring on-site presence. This role is responsible for identifying new commercial opportunities, nurturing and maintaining relationships with healthcare institutions, distributors, and critical stakeholders, and driving sales growth across designated territories.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough market research and prospect potential clients.
- Prepare and deliver presentations aimed at potential partners.
- Negotiate contracts and follow up on leads to establish lasting business partnerships.
- Collaborate internally on pricing structures, product positioning, and marketing campaigns.
- Monitor and evaluate performance metrics against sales targets.
- Compile and submit regular reports and sales forecasts.
- Keep abreast of industry trends, competitor activities, and regulatory developments to inform strategic decisions.
Qualifications and Skills Required
- Proven expertise in business development, sales, and managing relationships to identify and secure new business opportunities.
- Experience in conducting market analysis, prospecting, and strategic planning aimed at revenue growth.
- Outstanding communication, negotiation, and presentation abilities suitable for engaging diverse healthcare stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and time management skills capable of handling multiple client accounts, maintaining sales pipelines, and meeting reporting deadlines.
- Familiarity with pharmaceutical or healthcare sectors, including basic knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements is advantageous.
- Competence in standard business software such as spreadsheets, presentation tools, and CRM platforms, with data handling and reporting skills.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Pharmacy, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience in business development roles.
- Ability to work autonomously on-site, collaborate across functions, and consistently achieve predetermined performance goals.
